Centra is a multifamily, semi-mixed-use project currently under construction on the Northeast corner of Central and Columbus Avenue.
Located at 3601 N. Central Avenue, the 2.56-acre property will soon be home to a new 5-story, 223-unit luxury apartment building by Fore Property Co. It is currently anticipated to open in March 2020.
“With the rebirth of Midtown Phoenix, Centra is primely located in the heart of the City along Central Avenue, offering residents a transit-oriented community that provides convenient connectivity to burgeoning employment opportunities, dining, entertainment and retail close by, including the revitalized Park Central Mall,” said Jeff Kern, Development Director at Fore Property.
When it opens, Centra will offer luxury 1 and 2-bedroom units ranging from 635 to 1,491 square feet that will rent for around $1,200 to $2,500 per month. Units will feature granite countertops, walk-in closets, stainless steel appliances, and full-size washer and dryer units. Some larger floor plans will also include double vanities.
Amenities will include:
- Rooftop lounge with outdoor grilling areas and panoramic views of Midtown Phoenix
- 3,000 square foot fitness center with a yoga room
- Business lounge with complimentary Wifi, coffee bar, and lounge seating
- Game room with, arcade games, pool tables and a shuffleboard
- Club room featuring TVs, bar and lounge seating
- Coffee and sparkling water bar
- Large central courtyard with game lawn and party room
- Ground floor retail and dining
The building will also benefit from its proximity to the Light Rail, with the nearest station less than 1000 feet to the South, or about a 4-minute walk. For tenants with cars, Centra will include approximately 346 parking spaces across both the ground floor and the basement-level areas.
Plans filed by Fore with the City of Phoenix indicate the large central courtyard will be located on the 2nd floor along with the approximately 1,100 square-foot pool. The rooftop deck will feature about 1,200 square feet of space and sit about 60 feet above Central Avenue on the Southwest corner of the building. The street frontage along Central Avenue will include at least one unit of retail space with about 6,449 of square feet available, located on the Northwest corner of the building. The building plans do not indicate whether the space will be subdivided, but planned amenities do include the phrase ‘ground floor retail and dining’.
Once completed, Centra will join a growing list of mid-rise apartment communities going up in the Midtown area, including Alta Central just to the north (also 223 units) and Edison Midtown to the south at 110 units. These communities are contributing to a trend of rapid urbanization along the Central Avenue light rail corridor, driven in large part by a nationwide resurgence of interest in pedestrian-friendly, walkable urban living.
